What do you replace it with?
by konceptual99 inso... i am coming to the conclusion that pretty much all of the doctrinal stuff that i have believed for 25/30 years is built on a house of cards and it's about to come crashing down.
question is what do i replace it with?.
my intellectual head says that that whole thing is junk and there is almost certainly no god at all.

perfect1: I said morality without God in my life would be subjective. I believe all people, atheists included, have a moral compass because God has placed it in everyone.
Yes it is too difficult for me to wrap my head around the concept of there not being a God. I have tried but intellectually, spiritually it's impossible for me. It's not fear that forces me to believe in Him.
For me it's like asking what would life be without oxygen. I believe that God creates and sustains. Without Him there is nothing.

I'm sure this won't be a popular answer on this board but maybe it's time to stop relying on man for the answers and instead rely on Jesus. It always saddens me when a witness looses faith in the organization they loose faith in God as well. Could it be that the organization has given you a warped sense of who God is?
Intellectually I can't fathom that there is no God; that ultimately there is no purpose to our existence; that morality is subjective. I may not see God but I sense Him all around me, through people, nature, music, and how lives are changed.
Our pastor is friends with an atheist. During a conversation the college professor admitted that he didn't know how the universe started or why we are here. He had made up his mind at the age of 6 that there was no God. Personally I feel that it isn't an intellectual decision but an emotional one.

The title of this forum should be changed to Judas' Witnesses.net to accurately reflect it's makeup.
by Theocratic Sedition ini've been browsing here for some time now and i've read the erroneous arguments supporting 587, the petty feelings over the un, blah blah blah.

I agree with Cedar.
You can't have it both ways. Either you are God's chosen organization under the guidance of his holy spirit, in which case you had BETTER get it right 100% of the time, or you aren't.
I would like to address a number of things that you stated.
God haters, disgruntled apostates
First, I am a Christian, I am not an apostate.
As for the people here who hate God. Many were hurt and deceived by the organization. My own mom, when she was still in, told me that if the organization was wrong then God didn’t exist. That is how much she identified the organization with God. Thankfully she is out and admits that it is a cult, and she has held her belief in God. The men at the top will be held accountable for deceiving people.
...thinking they've procured truth outside of the truth
Truth is not a concept chosen by men but a person Christ Jesus.
Any rookie can go online and "research" whatever they want to create whatever "truth" they like.
When my parents became witnesses I did research to see if the organization really was the "truth". I did some of my research on line but most of the evidence came from the Watchtower’s Library CD. I have the 1950-2003, given to us by a Jehovah’s Witness, who didn’t realize why were using it. The Watchtower’s Online Library from 2000-2012 is available on line.
Here’s the link: http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/h/r1/lp-e
People on here have downloaded a couple books on Babylon and examined some scratches on rocks and now all of a sudden they're experts on ancient astrology.
Where do you receive your information? From the Bible or from Watchtower literature. I suggest reading The Gentile Times Reconsidered by Carl Olof Jonsson. He was a Jehovah’s Witness who tried to prove to himself the accuracy of 607 and after extensive research realized the Watchtower was wrong.
spirtual wasteland, it's quite apparent the lack of spiritual food
I don’t receive my spiritual food on this site. Personally I’m reading the Old Testament and my Bible study group is studying 1 Timothy, Bible only, no additional literature. In the fall we resume (with another group) studying the Bible without additional literature. I believe that the Body of Christ as a whole is anointed, not a select few. Contrary to what the Watchtower teaches an individual is capable of reading and understanding the Bible with the help of HS as the Bible states in 1 John 2:26
I am writing these things to you about those who are trying to lead you astray. 27 As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit——just as it has taught you, remain in him.
Do you believe the Bible is inspired? Do you believe the Watchtower literature is inspired? Do you believe that this organization is the only channel of communication that God has chosen? For what reason?
Personally I would welcome your comments showing where you think we are wrong, as long as you use the Bible alone, not Watchtower literature.

Hi Theocratic Sedition,
I do hope you post again. Would you respond to any questions anyone has not using the Jehovah's Witness literature, but using the Bible alone?

Off to work soon but will try to respond more later. Can't understand why they call each other brother and sister. To be a brother or sister there has to be a father. Who is their father?
The whole thing saddens me; that they are not children of God, they are not in the New Covenant, Christ is not their Mediator. If they are not in the New Covenant how did Christ die for them? Maybe that is why they have to do works. But like you said that if you are under the law you are under a curse.

Can you politely tell your family that you need some time alone without interference to think things through? Better yet, can't you put it on the backburner for a while and just enjoy your family. Don't allow, even family, to suck the joy out of you and your family. This is a stressful time so not a good time to make any decisions.
I don't believe that God gives us more than we can handle. It may seem so when we go through it but trust me it will get better. You may even look back at this time and be thankful that it happened because your life is better than you ever imagined.
A dear friend left the witnesses 18 years ago. She was never disfellowshipped even though she has never gone back to the hall. She still has a relationship with her children and grandchildren. We believe that they will eventually see the errors of the Watchtower and leave.
My mom left a few years ago at the age of 79. She has never been happier and is married to a wonderful man. She realizes now that it is a cult and that she believed in an organization over God.
Think of the positives in your life; your children, your husband and your renewed relationship with your sister. Who knows, your family may also eventually see the "light". We may give up on Him but God never gives up on us.
In the end, whether you go back to the hall or leave permanently, make sure that it is your, and your husband's, decision. I believe that it is a false religion but you have to look into it yourself. When you feel strong enough study and compare Watchtower teachings against Bible teaching. Pray that God will give you discernment and peace about your situation. When I was in that storm (hurricane) I held on to the fact that in the centre it is peaceful. For me that peace could only be found in God. The following verse I hung on to.
Isaiah 41:13 For I am the LORD, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.
